LISTEN UP: Wild Ponies Will Never “Hurt Your Heart” in Poly Love Song

Wild Ponies are Doug and Telisha Williams, are partners in love and music. Five albums and twenty years into their careers, the pair are taking stock and examining what makes life worth living. Their new album Dreamers explores family beyond traditional notions — particularly their experiences as part of a queer, polyamorous family undergoing fertility treatments and becoming foster parents in the state of Tennessee. Their new song “Hurt Your Heart” is a declaration of love in a poly relationship.

“‘Hurt Your Heart’ is a love song for our partner Laura and the wholesome polyamorous Americana dream,” explain Dough and Telisha Williams. “We’re a family doing our best to raise our kids and still find time for those ever-important and brief connection points. Times to touch, have a cup of coffee before the kids are up, share our fears, hopes, and dreams.”

Dreamers will be out on August 23rd and will feature the talents of Brandy Zdan on production, along with co-writes with Chely Wright, Ben Glover, and Nora Jane Struthers, and featuring guest musicians The Sea The Sea (Chuck and Mira Costa) and Nashville pedal steel legend Fats Kaplin.
