About
Country Music For Everyone
Isn’t about a time we celebrated queer artists in country music?
I’m Rachel Cholst, a music journalist from New York City who has been writing about the queer country music community for the last 9 years. My work has appeared in leading country music and Americana publications such as No Depression, The Boot, Wide Open Country, and my own blog Adobe & Teardrops. As far as I know, Rainbow Rodeo is the first print publication devoted to queer country music.
The first issue was 200% funded on Kickstarter, which meant that contributors — artists, journalists, and fans from the queer country community — were paid double the rate of typical online publications. We’re very proud of this, and hope to continue this with our subscription-based model here on Ghost!
By Artists For Artists
Why should the zine be limited to bookstores? If artists sell the zine at their merch tables, we can spread the word about each other and build community. Not only do we create emotional bonds, but we can support each other financially as well. We feel strongly that Rainbow Rodeo should lift up all members of the musical community. You can also send us your music here!
