Blake Rave yearns for comfort on his recent single “Home.” The gentle acoustic number evokes country radio with none of the cheese. This is a sincere love song that is complicated by anxiety and uncertainty. Inspired by the early days of lockdown (since we’re still in a pandemic,) “Home” brings us the comfort we were all looking for in those bleak days.
“I wrote the song “Home” during the pandemic while living in Omaha, Nebraska. It was so eerie – the busy downtown streets were empty; the sidewalks and shops were empty and it filled me with a sense of hopelessness,” explains Rave. “I remember feeling so isolated and frustrated; I was longing for normalcy and comfort. It’s actually the first song I wrote in which I broke my lyrical autonomy… The first line of the song came out of my mouth and it felt so natural, but also surprised me.”
