Name a more iconic duo than etc etc etc Brooklyn queer country singer Paisley Fields and indie rock stalwart Laura Stevenson add their own spin to the pantheon with their crack at "Pancho and Lefty." Paisley's earthy narrations balance beautifully with the retro vibrato Stevenson brings to her parts. This story of friendship, betrayal, and outliving one's own legend are given a piquant twist with Fields' twinkling arrangement and Stevenson's high lonesome sound.
The video features Jane Bruce as Fields' treacherous poker partner, the pair staring each other down at a dive bar. The video was co-directed by Octavia Leona Kohner and Damon Beirne, whose work we've featured in the past.
