PREMIERE: roger weeks is "the kid who made it" on Gently Defiant New Song
roger weeks brings us gentle defiance on their sparkling new song "the kid who made it"
roger weeks transforms the isolation of his New Hampshire upbringing into their hopeful new song "the kid who made it." Growing up gay in the woods with a single mother who passed while roger was young led to a great deal of grief and introspection, one that weeks transforms into powerful music.
On "the kid who made it," weeks explores the dichotomy of his past difficulties and his search for a lighter existence in his new hometown of Los Angeles. But you can't outrun pain, and weeks deftly illustrates the waves that still overcome them at times.
The sparkling specificity in weeks' storytelling create a universal experience for their listeners. Having been through so much himself, he aims for his music to be a vessel to help others heal and feel understood. Stay tuned—a debut album is on the horizon for 2025.
“Even though life has been hard, I wake up every day and choose defiance," weeks explains. "This song is a letter acknowledging the hard stuff I’ve gone through, and celebrating all that I’ve overcome. I’m the kid who made it.”
