Verna Margaret by Elizabeth Littlefield

In the lilting chorus of "White Shutters, Red Door," Verna Margaret comes to terms with what she wants, and the sacrifices that entails. The LA-based artist brings her Virginia Beach roots and love of John Prine with her in this tale of two lovers drifting apart. It's a tale as old as time, but endings aren't always sad.

"Breakups aren't always a tragedy or a result of some blow up event. Sometimes the breakups that hurt the most are the ones where two people simply want different things," Margaret explains. "I wrote this song about two people parting ways because they dream of different life. There's still some longing and love, but both are ultimately content knowing the decision to part was the right one."
