Rachael Sage Guides Us to "The Place of Fun" In New Video

Rachael Sage transports us to “The Place Of Fun” in her new music video. The song is a re-imagined acoustic version of the standout track on her album The Other Side. Sage’s album Another Side gave a new twist to the breakout album, a testament to her newfound artistic independence and the triumph of overcoming cancer.

This version of “The Place Of Fun” features guest vocals and mandolin by breakthrough, award-winning Americana duo Annalyse & Ryan. The track bursts with percussion provided by Austin-based Katie Marie (Sophie B. Hawkins), along with Sage’s own acoustic guitar and percussive grooves. While the song is musically upbeat and cheerful, when listening to the introspective lyrics one will realize the depth of the song, which centers on finding the inner wisdom we all have and re-evaluating what we want, need, and what truly works in our lives.

The video is equally exuberant, conceived by London-based director Le Malone and featuring dancer Carlos Gu, who appeared in the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing.

“As someone with a dance background myself – though firmly in ballet – I’m always mesmerized by ballroom dancing and it was a huge honor to have Carlos participate in the video, representing the unabashedly joyful, fun and liberated moments for which we all longed so much, during the height of lockdown,” Sage told Rainbow Rodeo.

“Performing behind the screen and improvising our movement to the song was so much fun…though I was actually recovering from a fractured shoulder while we were shooting, so I wasn’t 100%, but it sort of added to the intensity of the experience for me,” she explains. “There’s nothing more humbling than realizing just how fragile we are in our physical bodies, and to never take for granted the freedom of movement (whether mental or physical) we have, in our daily lives.”
