  • Laura Jane Grace and the Mississippi Medicals enters her freak folk era with “All Fucked Out.” The song is a lo-fi reggae groove with goofy voices, novelty instruments, and the resignation that this partnership is well and truly over.
  • Jett Holden tells epic love songs of the “West Virginia Sky” on this heartfelt ballad. It’ speaks to Holden’s poetic capabilities as well as his powerhouse voice.
  • Keep for Cheap fulfill dreams I never had of Sapphic John Mellencamp-inspired heartland rock. “FedEx” is a cheery rejection of conservative values with enough bite to give us the energy to fight back.
  • Granddogs have an album coming up on August 20th, so let’s preview what’s in store with “Wither on the Vine.” The song is a fierce expression of grief for a friend who can’t seem to cut the cord on a bad relationship (possibly with a hint of unrequited love in there? Messy!) But what’s not are the intricate arrangements in the song and Granddogs’ epic performance.
  • Grover Anderson recommended this song on our Rainbow Rodeo Discord. (Want in? Drop us a line on social media.) A Strange Bird unfurls an elegant plea on “Dance in the Rain.” A Strange Bird’s raspy vocals and expert finger-picking create an intriguing tension that will make you want to join in the dance.
