Stay With Us: Trans Day of Remembrance
On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor the strength of those who came before us -- as well as their joy and resilience
This year's transgender day of remembrance feels somehow heavier than most. We've seen repeated assaults on trans rights in the UK and the impending Trump administration all but guarantees the same playbook here in the US.
There's only so much a queer country blog can do, but I hope this music can bring you strength in the coming days. The trans artists we cover here radiate joy, vulnerability, and strength – even amidst fear, confusion, and dysphoria. We are messy. But it's not all bad. Chase gender euphoria however that looks to you and wherever you feel safe doing so.
Queer country is proof that we belong in America – everywhere. Not just the usual enclaves (though I am a proud daughter of one such enclave.) Below are a few articles that discuss the trans experience in its beauty and mystery – and proof that we've always been here.
Stay with us. We need your beauty. We need your story.
