WATCH: Great Aunt Close Out OUTlaw Pride's Successful In-Studio Series
OUTlaw Pride wraps up 2026 with an in-studio performance by Great Aunt -- plus an update on their Americanafest showcase.
OUTlaw Pride is celebrating the conclusion of its live in-studio performance series with a final session featuring Great Aunt, bringing the first chapter of the intimate series to a close while looking ahead to its return at the top of 2027. Watch the entire series on YouTube HERE.
Created to give independent queer artists a space to share their music in an intimate, stripped-back setting, the OUTlaw Pride in-studio series has featured performances from a diverse group of artists working across country, roots, Americana, folk, and beyond. The series has included Julie Nolen; Rebecca Patek with Melissa Carper; Ever More Nest; Mr. Cindy & The Secret Emchy Society; Paisley Fields; Steph Cash; and Great Aunt.
Rather than simply documenting performances, OUTlaw Pride created the series to put queer artists and their work front and center, offering audiences an opportunity to experience the musicians beyond the festival stage and to create a lasting record of the independent queer roots community.
For OUTlaw Pride founder Julie Nolen, supporting these artists means creating opportunities for their music to be heard on its own terms.
“There is something really special about hearing an artist in this kind of intimate setting,” says Nolen. “Independent queer artists are making incredible music, and they deserve opportunities to have their work seen, heard, and shared. We wanted to create a space where the music could speak for itself while also building a record of the artists who are shaping queer roots music right now.”
The series arrives at an especially significant moment for OUTlaw Pride following the organization's highly successful Queer Roots showcase at AmericanaFest in Nashville. The event brought an unprecedented number of queer roots artists together on one stage, filling the venue throughout the day and earning coverage from the Nashville Scene. The showcase has quickly become one of AmericanaFest's standout special events and a cornerstone of OUTlaw Pride's mission to bring greater visibility to queer artists within the roots music community.
The success of the showcase and the in-studio series reflects a growing community of artists and audiences who are challenging the idea of what queer country, Americana, and roots music can look and sound like.
The OUTlaw Pride live in-studio series will return in early 2027, with more performances and opportunities to spotlight independent queer artists.
