Rainbow Ruckus: The Holiday Playlist 2025
This holiday edition of Rainbow Ruckus features puppy dogs, the gift that keeps on giving, and waltzes filled with yearning.
We are slowly but surely building the definitive queer country holiday playlist here at Rainbow Rodeo. I must say – we need more non-denominational winter songs, as well as Hanukkah and Kwanzaa songs! You've got 6 nights of Hanukkah left including tonight, so crack those pens open!
You can read about last year's entries (included on the playlist) here. In the meantime, we'll highlight some holiday cheer from this year.
- Melissa Carper's beautifully vintage – and appropriately bittersweet – Christmas album gifts us with "I Want a Dog For Christmas." I write this with my own dog snuggled up in my lap, so I completely understand the childlike voice Carper taps into for this song. They're pretty perfect.
- On "EVERY SEASON," morgxn gives us an instant pop classic, celebrating the best gift of all: a love that lasts. A+ use of sleigh bells, we must say.
- Cindy Emch and Mya Byrne's yearning "It's Xmas, Baby" came out last year, but the pair have released a new video for it just in time for the holiday season.
It's not on Spotify or Tidal, but I don't want to take a moment to spotlight Mya Byrne and Lindsey Verill's cheeky ditty "Inflatable Menorah."
