Queer troubadours Ali Angel & Rae Isla strike gold on their shimmering duet "Real Wealth"
LA-based artists Ali Angel and Rae Isla struck up a friendship after sharing a bill at The Moroccan Lounge – but it was only the beginning. After touring the Pacific Northwest together, the pair began writing music together. "Real Wealth," out tomorrow, is the result – a glorious, golden-washed celebration of partnership and deep love.
"The song is the result of years of friendship, collaboration, and our shared sentiments on what really matters in life," explains Isla. "Ali is an incredible songwriter, performer, and artist. It’s a bonus that she’s also one of my close friends. And a double bonus that she’s also pushing queer Americana music to the forefront of culture!"
The duo's chemistry shines: the mutual respect Angel and Isla share for each other drives "Real Wealth" forward.
"The song recognizes and appreciates the way your person can bring you back to yourself (your best self) when you’re feeling down," says Angel. "However, this song can apply to any meaningful relationship – platonic or romantic – about the value of a relationship with somebody that has weathered storms and time and is a stable, foundational home that you can always come back to when you need to return to yourself and feel safe/rejuvenated/loved."
Isla garnered critical acclaim with her 2021 album Another Life. Angel's 2026 album, Is This Really Happening? features her '70s and '90s country influences.
