WATCH THIS: Big Guy and the Very Large Men Bust Through the "RED DOOR"
Big Guy and the Very Large Men use cosmic country to interrogate the darker corners of making it in Nashville -- and the community that grows from that -- in "RED DOOR"
Big Guy & The Very Large Men explore the curious contradictions of country music in Nashville with their latest, "RED DOOR." Big Guy is led by songwriter James Droll, and the band's EP soft hands, hard times released earlier this year was a gentle, dreamy exploration of cosmic country. The group has hit the ground running, because their next EP, PERMADEATH is out on November 13.
The video finds Droll surrounded by his community while signing of the alienating aspects of trying to make it in Nashville – often known as the "ten year town." The song glides by like watching the world pass through a car windy on a rainy evening. Droll explains the motive behind the song and the unity found in the video:
"‘RED DOOR’ is first and foremost a song about Nashville and how dark, weird, and magical it can be.. and so we gathered some of our favorite players, pulled up at my friend Alex’s beautiful studio.. brought way more people than we had communicated.. and the result is what you see and hear!"
PERMADEATH will be out November 13. You can pre-save it here.
