Chicago band #QueerCountry Bandwagon has been pulling their weight to nurture the queer country scene in Chicago – and they're ready to share that music with the entire world. For National Coming Out Day, the band wants to encourage us all to be who we are.

"I wrote this song about a year after coming out as a transgender woman in my 60s," explains lead singer Richelle Gordon – a longtime supporter of Rainbow Rodeo. "It goes over really well with queer audiences and has become our band's closer at most shows."

It's no wonder, since the song's simple refrain easily puts a smile on anyone's face – but if you need encouragement, the video is delightful.

"The face paint video was shot at a queer country event in July 2026 at Judson & Moore in Chicago. Attendees at the show used the band's merch (rainbow face paint) to decorate themselves and 'be who they are.'"

The video includes Chicago queer country artists shots of several artists Andrew Sa; Olivia Love, The Growing Boys and The Devil Said Jump and Hell Trash (hell___trash).

If you're in Chicago, you can celebrate National Coming Out Day with the band, Sa, and Iris Marlowe tomorrow at – where else – Judson & Moore. (Tickets here.)
