PREMIERE: Rita De los Angeles Teaches You How to "Keep To Myself?
Rita de Los Angeles teaches us how to "Keep to Myself" in her new linedance choreography video
Rita de los Angeles has been a fierce advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights, splitting her time between California and Germany. It's that perspective of how things could be – and how things are changing, that gives De los Angeles unique insight into queer country music.
On her latest song "Keep to Myself," De Los Angeles examines queer longing at the club (where we're all fam) – and turns it into a line dancing song.
"I'm excited for LGBTQ+ linedance community to embrace the choreography for this song," says Rita. "It's my first time incorporating linedance into one of my tracks, and I hope it resonates with both beginners and experienced dancers. The choreography is simple—48 counts, 2-wall—and perfect for newcomers. The LGBTQ+ country music scene is thriving, and I'd love to see artists like me become part of the rotation for LGBTQ+ linedance events."
Queer linedancing has become A Thing – to the point that I have friends begging me for a connect to Brooklyn's monthly Stud Country dance. (For the record, I do not.) Impress your friends when you already know the dance to this one with the tutorial:
